Drone Trends Toward 2028: Drone-as-a-Service
Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV), also known as drones, are reinventing businesses as well as creating new ones. Since 2016, the industrial applications of commercial autonomous drones have dramatically increased. The adoption of drone technology has considerably increased during the Covid-19 pandemic. Drones have provided assistance in the healthcare sector for lab sample pickup and delivery as well as transportation and delivery of medical supplies, reducing transportation turnaround and curling the exposure to infection.

Fly your drones safely this Christmas, CAA chief pleads to avoid air ambulance collisions
Aviation chiefs have urged people to fly drones safely to protect low-flying air ambulances, which are expected to make around 1,000 lifesaving missions during the festive period. Jonathan Nicholson, the assistant director of communications, at the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), asked drone users to fly safely and remain alert for low-flying air ambulances. With thousands of drones expected to be given as presents this Christmas, Mr Nicholson said: 'With more than 400,000 registered drone owners across the UK, and more expected to be added during the festive period as people receive new drones for Christmas, we're asking all drone users to fly safely and to especially be on the lookout for low-flying helicopters. There have been close to 500 close calls between drones and aircraft in the past ten years, with up to 125 in a single year. Air ambulances often fly below the 400ft maximum height for drone flying.
Kivu Provided A Report For DJI Drones – DEEP AERO DRONES – Medium
According to DJI, the DJI drone users have full control on their data. The report, conducted by San Francisco-based Kivu Consulting, was based on drones, iOS and android devices. "This is the first time DJI has allowed outsiders to examine its proprietary computer code, and the result is the first independent verification of what we have said all along: DJI provides robust tools to help our customers keep their data private," mentions Michael Perry, DJI's managing director for North America. "For some type of data, such as media files and flight logs, the drone user must affirmatively initiate transmission to any remote server," says Douglas Brush, Kivu's director of cyber security investigations.

Researchers Created Digital Log Tool For Drone Users In Agricultural Field
A researcher from the Purdue University developed the Web-based application that allows unmanned aircraft system operators in agriculture to easily log their flight-related data. The globally available logbook helps record the date, time and location of a flight, model and registration information of the device, the type of sensors used, safety precautions taken and other related information. "We've lacked a system to provide UAS users in agriculture with a way to record information about their flights, sensors and maintenance issues, and creation of a common protocol for UAS operations for various research and production related applications is an effort to plug that gap and bring standardization to flight data collection," says Dharmendra Saraswat, an associate professor in Purdue University. About DEEPAERO DEEP AERO is a global leader in drone technology innovation. At DEEP AERO, we are building an autonomous drone economy powered by AI & Blockchain.
Police to be given powers to ground drones in UK crackdown
The government is planning to create a raft of new police powers as part of a crackdown on the civilian use of drones, the Department for Transport has announced. The new drone bill to be published in 2018 will allow police officers to order drone operators to ground their devices where necessary, alongside a series of new changes that will create a mandatory registry for larger unmanned aerial vehicles, such as those sold by Parrot or DJI. It could also include a ban on drones flying near airports or above 122 metres (400 feet), the government says, and a requirement for drone owners to use apps, rather than simple remote controls, to fly their aircraft, in order to ensure that the rules are always readily accessible and incorporated into the flight plan. The proposed bill will be accompanied by changes to the air navigation order that will introduce safety awareness tests for drone users, and the requirement to register with the government before flying drones that weigh more than 250g. Aviation Minister Baroness Sugg said: "Drones have great potential and we want to do everything possible to harness the benefits of this technology as it develops, but if we are to realise the full potential of this incredibly exciting technology, we have to take steps to stop illegal use of these devices and address safety and privacy concerns. "These new laws strike a balance, to allow the vast majority of drone users to continue flying safely and responsibly, while also paving the way for drone technology to revolutionise businesses and public services." Tim Johnson, policy director at the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), said: "The CAA supports the safe development of drones in the UK.

Cashing in on the drone revolution
A tiny unmanned aircraft is hovering quietly above a green field in Buckinghamshire, offering its owner, Joby Stephens, an "eye in the sky". The drone is kitted out with a tiny high-definition camera that sends crisp images via wi-fi to a phone clipped to the drone's remote control unit. "The ability to film with a drone adds another string to my bow," the professional cameraman and producer says as he pilots the aircraft towards some nearby trees. "Being able to legally and safely deliver drone footage should be a great addition to many projects." Mr Stephens runs production company Jam96, which specialises in making behind-the-scenes videos on movie sets - places where there will invariably be lots of people.

On Saturday, the UK government posted new rules governing the use of drones weighing over 250 grams (about half a pound), with input from the Department for Transport, the Civil Aviation Authority, and the Military Aviation Authority. The guidelines state that drone users will have to register their devices and undergo safety awareness testing to ensure that they're aware of UK security, privacy, and safety rules. "By registering drones, introducing safety awareness tests to educate users we can reduce the inadvertent breaching of airspace restrictions." "By registering drones, introducing safety awareness tests to educate users we can reduce the inadvertent breaching of airspace restrictions to protect the public."

New drone owners urged to read the rules before first flight
New drone owners have been warned about the risk of flying the devices as soon as they unwrap them this Christmas. Police and aviation authorities urged users to read up on strict rules about the remote-controlled gadgets before taking them for their first spin. Those caught flying drones dangerously face an unlimited fine and up to five years in prison. Last week the government announced plans to introduce a series of measures to crack down on reckless drone users following a string of near-misses with aircraft. In November the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) launched a website to publish its revised code of conduct for drone users, labelled the dronecode.
DJI Heads Off GoPro With Smart, Compact Mavic Pro Drone
GoPro Inc. GPRO -3.85 % 's new Karma drone isn't on sale yet, but it already has a nemesis, the Mavic Pro--a new quadcopter introduced on Tuesday by SZ DJI Technology Co., the Chinese company that has risen to dominance in the consumer drone space. Both drones are small enough to carry in a backpack, both feature foldable propeller arms, and both connect to 4K cameras. But they have some differences in capabilities and price. The Mavic Pro has a built-in camera and will sell for 1,000. GoPro will sell its Karma drone for 799, but cameras are sold separately.
